Storage of Our Products
Cheese and chutney are both delicious, but they do have one important request: please store them properly. They are food, not festive decorations.
Place your cheese in the fridge as soon as your order arrives.
Store away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
Refrigerate opened cheese and chutney and follow the instructions on the label.
How to store your cheese and chutney
Proper storage helps protect the flavour, texture and quality of your products. Always check the individual packaging for storage instructions and Best Before information.
Cheese storage
All of our cheese truckles arrive with a protective wax seal, which helps keep them well protected before opening.
However, the wax seal does not keep the cheese cold. It is clever, but not quite fridge-level clever.
- Store your cheese in the fridge as soon as it arrives.
- Keep your fridge between 0°C and 5°C.
- Keep the cheese chilled until you are ready to enjoy it.
- Always check the Best Before date and storage instructions on the packaging.
- Once opened, wrap the cheese well or place it in a suitable sealed container.
- Return any unused cheese to the fridge promptly.
Chutney storage
Our chutneys are perfect with cheese, crackers, sandwiches and the sort of fridge-door browsing we all pretend not to do.
Once opened, chutney must be stored correctly to keep it at its best.
- Store unopened jars in a cool, dry place.
- Keep jars away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Refrigerate after opening.
- Use a clean spoon each time.
- Keep the lid securely closed between uses.
- Follow the storage instructions and Best Before information shown on the jar.
Unpack your order promptly and place all cheese in the fridge. The insulated packaging and ice packs help protect your order during delivery, but they are not intended for long-term storage.
Please do not store cheese here
A waxed truckle may look decorative, but it is still a chilled dairy product. Please do not leave it:
Getting the best from your cheese
For the best flavour, take out only the amount of cheese you plan to serve and keep the remaining cheese refrigerated. Avoid leaving chilled cheese at room temperature for longer than necessary.
After cutting into a waxed truckle
Wrap the exposed cheese well or place it in a suitable sealed container. This helps prevent it from drying out or absorbing other flavours from the fridge.
Always check the product label
Individual products may have specific storage or after-opening instructions. Where the packaging gives different or more detailed instructions, please follow the packaging.
Proper storage protects your products
Cheese is a chilled, perishable product. Keeping it refrigerated helps protect its texture, flavour and quality. Chutney also needs a little care once opened.
Correct storage helps keep the intended flavour and texture.
Good wrapping and refrigeration help prevent opened products from drying out.
Keeping chilled food at the correct temperature helps control the growth of harmful bacteria.
Does something not look right?
