Storage of Our Products
Cheese and chutney are both delicious, but they do have one important request: please store them properly. They are food, not festive decorations.
How to store your cheese and chutney
Cheese truckles
All of our cheese truckles arrive with a protective wax seal, which helps keep them well protected before opening.
However, the wax seal does not keep the cheese cold. It is clever, but not quite fridge-level clever.
- Store your cheese in the fridge as soon as it arrives.
- Keep it chilled until you are ready to enjoy it.
- Always check the Best Before date on the packaging.
- Once opened, wrap it well and return it to the fridge.
Chutneys
Our chutneys are perfect with cheese, crackers, sandwiches and the sort of fridge-door browsing we all pretend not to do.
Once opened, chutney must be stored correctly to keep it at its best.
- Store unopened jars in a cool, dry place.
- Refrigerate after opening.
- Use a clean spoon each time.
- Consume before the Best Before date shown on the bottom of the jar.
What not to do
Please do not store cheese here
- Under the Christmas tree.
- In the airing cupboard.
- Next to the radiator.
- On a sunny windowsill.
- In the car while you “just pop into one more shop”.
Why storage matters
Cheese is a chilled, perishable product. Keeping it refrigerated helps protect its texture, flavour and quality.
Chutney also needs a little care once opened. A clean spoon and a spot in the fridge will keep it much happier.
Quick reminder
Think cheese, think fridge. Think opened chutney, also think fridge. Your taste buds will thank you, and so will the cheese.
